Alphabet Preschool Lessons

I did something like this  years ago with Ryan - I think those posts are under "letters" if you click that label. Some of the activities are the same, many are not.

I got these ideas from Pinterest using these blogs.

I am all about making things simple with what I have on hand, with books and things, as much as I can.

I am not super organized and only plan a week or two a head. some letters we do lots of things some we only do a little it just depends on the day, and activities I think will be fun.

We ALWAYS start each week singing chick a chick boom boom and then I tell him the new letter for the week. I show him both upper and lower case, and as we read book I have him look for both letters.

When writing I encourage lower case more then upper since it us used more.

I also introduce all sounds letters make, and as we read point out the sounds (not overly though) even if they are not at the start of a word.

the key is to have learning be fun.

I have noticed that far after we have learned letters he is noticing the sounds, and the names of the letters everywhere this is GREAT prep for reading.

I am not a big fan or work sheets I like books and hands on learning- although I do use a few as you will see.

B is for …

Some Letter B Activities, taking a Ball bath! and played a lot with the Balls. 

having fun in a sink full of Bubbles! 

 we made tissue paper balls and threw them on this tape web - they did not stick as well as we would have liked- they did not fly very well thanks pinterest for the idea though.

we also read books about bugs, butterflies, and birds. We ate Bananas, and did a bulldozer activity, and learned about Brazil.

V is for …

V is for Volcano! this was a super exciting activity- I think we did it half a dozen times. 

he built the volcano, then classic backing soda, vinegar, and red food coloring. 

V is for Vegetable - we cut pictures of veggies from magazines then glue them to a letter V

we also read a book about a family going on a Vacation (which we were getting ready to do) we drove in our Van, and read a book about Violins, in an orchestra.

H is for …

For H we did a feel with our hands activity with different things in bags, a squishy ball, funny shaped noodles, ice, and a super soft fuzzy sock. 

They were being Helpers picking up the balls, bellow they were all wearing Hats! we played a fun toss the bean bag into the hats game.

We also make a fun H- flip book with different things that start with H, sang Head shoulders knees and toes. We read Happy! pig day book, played Hide and seek, and talked about eating Healthy in science.

Love - we made heart sweet rolls - super bad pic but I love this face :)

we read books about Lady bugs, went to the Library, and did a fun Light activity.

M is for …

We did a lot of fun things for M but not many pictures. :( 

M is for Magnets - we read a book and played with them. 

some other things we did. Read a fun books about Matching Mittens, Motorcycles, monkeys, played some Music games, money activities, and for science we learned about the Mouth, and did this tasting activity.

Also M is for Mickey Mouse- as we were counting down for our Disney Cruise.

read  books about insects, played with the fake insects in the rice bin

did Ice Cube painting, (froze these out side which was fun to do)  ha ha

S is for …

Some of the activities we did for the letter S!

we made Snowflake and Snowman pancakes!

played in the snow, (inside it is much easier) filled some water bottles with water and food coloring for fun.

I make a felt snow man, then we flipped over number cards, then put that many buttons on the snowman. We also read books about snow and snowmen.
